We're Closed
1/27/2007
Well, we probably should have updated the website earlier, but seeing as how nobody hiring us was the reason we closed, it didn't seem like a priority. Anyway, like the main page says, we're out of business. You may wish to follow photographers Wylie Maercklein and Chris Lynch on their flickrs
The Wideangle
10/26/2006
This actually happened a while back, but we never put a blurb up on our updates. Anyway, for travel photography and photojournalism, Castle Photography and its photographers are now represented by The Wideangle. If you head on over there, you may just recognize a few of their portfolio shots from Wylie Maercklein's Flickr feed.
Austin Film Festival (Update 2)
10/26/2006
Thanks to everyone who made it out to see our movie, The Land of Shadowed Sand. As a side note, a music video produced by Wylie Maercklein for The Panic Division is now running on MTVU. You might want to check it out.
We also landed a few reviews during the festival: The Chronicle referred to The Land of Shadowed Sand as "West Texas Confidential". The Austinist says that we "have created a stunningly shot, intelligently constructed 1950s gangster flick – complete with hot jazz, sultry dames, and good ‘ol fashioned American machismo" and "believable, attractive, and sublimely cohesive, the visual narrative alone is worth the price of admission". Sounds good to us.
Austin Film Festival
10/10/2006
A film made by Castle Photography members Wylie Maercklein, Chris Ragland, and Adam Shell will be playing at this year's Austin Film Festival. Be sure and come out next week to watch it. For more information, visit the website for The Land of Shadowed Sand.

It should be noted that, even when you're not seeing updates of our portfolios (though there was a new one earlier this week), you can always see what Castlephotos is shooting lately by looking at Wylie's Flickr feed. Keep in mind, that's just an informal picture post, but it shows what his day-to-day work looks like.
The Internet Loves Us
8/8/2006
Wylie's Pology Magazine set is online now. In other news, he's been invited to join the Austinist staff as a photographer in his spare time. So, that should be fun. Finally, Wylie has chosen to put his portfolio on Flickr, in order to have a few more people checking it out. After a week, looks like he has 3 images on Flickr's 500 Most Interesting Explorer. Not bad.
A Few Links
7/31/2006
First of all, Wylie Maercklein should be back in Austin by the 2nd, so that is good news. He also has a few new photosets showing up around the web, as well. A dozen or so of his Nicaragua photos will be in next month's Pology Magazine as a Photo Essay. Also, some of the production stills he took on the Far-Less music video he produced are on their record label's website: Tooth & Nail.
Blogging
7/07/2006
Catering now to a different crowd than that which enjoyed the PRP post: Today, we happened to be reading a message board on wedding photographers for couples about to be married. While it wasn't a majority, a lot of wedding clients agreed that whether or not a photographer had a blog was a significant part of their decision as to who to hire. In the spirit of that discussion, enjoy Wylie Maercklein's blog. It's rarely updated, not about photography, and rather boring. Sounds like great advertising to us!
The PRP
7/07/2006
We learned today that Castle Photography was linked by The PRP for Wylie Maercklein's photos of the band Far-Less. It's a shame he was a Producer on their music video and not the dedicated still photographer, or there would be a lot more to see.
Travel
7/07/2006
Lead Photographer Wylie Maercklein will be in California from July 18th through the end of the month. Are you in California? Sounds like a perfect time to book him! Part of September, Wylie will also be away for a documentary in India.
New Site Design
7/06/2006
Well, we've gone ahead and given the site another overhaul. This time, it is of the portfolio galleries and the site's text. Be sure and let us know if you see any bugs. This won't be the final overhaul in the near future. Expect the basic design to go through changes in the coming months.
Movies and New Faces
5/18/2006
The Land of Shadowed Sand, the second feature film from Lettered Union Pictures, has a teaser trailer online. The film was Produced in part by Castle Photography's Lead Photographer Wylie Maercklein and Business Manager Chris Ragland, co-written by Wylie, and features the acting talents of Wylie, Chris, and Castle Photographer Adam Shell, who also worked as the sound engineer. Check it out.
In other news, we will be welcoming photographer Chris Lynch to the team when he moves to Austin in September. Expect to see his portfolio added here during our site revamp next month.
May
4/14/2006
During the third week of May, Wylie Maercklein, CastlePhoto's lead photographer, will be on assignment in Liberia for the same organization that sent him to Nicaragua. Also, in June, look for an overhaul of the portfolio galleries. Lots of new pictures to come.
March and April
3/14/2006
Castle Photos has been chosen to be the still photographers on The Panic Division's new music video, "Versus", directed by Daniel Isaac. In other news, Wylie Maercklein, our lead photographer, will be on assignment in Nicaragua for the second week of April. He'll be the still photojournalist for a documentary about an organization called Child First Meds.
